  • 1. YOUTH PROGRAMMING

Our commitment to the growth and well-being of refugee and low-income children extends far beyond academic support. We recognize the multifaceted challenges they face and the importance of a holistic approach to their development. In addition to tutoring, our programs offer a rich array of enrichment activities designed to foster well-being, socialization, and the cultivation of essential life skills. Our aim is to provide students with a safe and nurturing environment where they can not only excel academically but also explore their interests and cultivate positive relationships.

At MUCC, our commitment to education extends to both refugee and non-refugee community members, and it is rooted in the principles of cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. We firmly believe that education should be culturally appropriate and culturally aware to cater to the unique needs and backgrounds of our students. Our approach ensures that program staff can engage with students where they are, creating a safe and welcoming environment that not only acknowledges but celebrates cultural diversity and diverse language acquisition journeys.

Our approach to localization initiatives is grounded in the principles of community leadership and guided by our extensive experience and deep engagement with our diverse community. Embracing local leadership means not only acknowledging but also celebrating the expertise, agency, commitment, and integrity of our community members. We see them as our valued partners, fully engaged in shaping the initiatives rather than merely serving as our agents or beneficiaries.

  • 4. REFUGEE INTEGRATION

While refugees receive government support for the first 90-180 days after their arrival, the challenges they face often persist for years. These challenges include language barriers, economic hardships, the enduring effects of trauma, and cultural misunderstandings. MUCC takes a proactive approach to support refugees by facilitating their integration and the preservation of their cultural identities for years after arrival
